Hi, I’m Ian — the photographer behind Ian Petrie Photography. I photograph weddings across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, the East Midlands and South Yorkshire, capturing the genuine laughter, real connections and unfiltered emotions that make your day uniquely yours.

• I’m a dedicated tea drinker and a bit of a Nikon obsessive.
• I love those emotional ceremony moments — and I’m not afraid to join you on the dance floor later!
• I like to mingle, chat and help everyone feel comfortable around the camera.
• I tailor my approach to you. If you’re nervous in front of the camera or have particular needs — including concerns around flashing lights or photosensitivity — just let me know and I’ll adapt how I work so you can feel safe, comfortable and relaxed.

15Â Years Behind the Camera
I've been working professionally as a photographer for around 15 years, photographing weddings, families, events and people across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and the wider East Midlands.
That experience matters on a wedding day. It means knowing when to step in and offer guidance, when to disappear into the background, how to handle changing weather and difficult lighting, and how to keep things moving without making your wedding feel like one long photoshoot.
Today, my focus is on creating a highly personal wedding photography experience — relaxed, natural storytelling combined with beautiful creative portraits and dependable professional service from the first conversation to the finished gallery.
